THE DIOCESE OF KIGOMA CELEBRATES HER FIRST DIOCESAN HEALTH DAY.

On 05. 07. 2012 The diocese of Kigoma through the coordination of the Health Department, celebrated the first Diocesan Health Day in the her history with the Motto “Tuwajali na kuwapenda walemavu wa ngozi na wagonjwa wa macho” meaning let us love and care for the albinos and the blind. It was famously known as Albinism day. During the Celebration, the Guest of Honor Lt. Col. Issa Saleh Machibya (RC Kigoma) inaugurated the solidality fund namely “Bishop Jean Van Sambeek Charitable Fund”. The fund aimed at helping the poor people around Kabanga Referral Hospital to secure subsidized health services from the Kabanga Referral Hospital. The Diocesan Health Day is meant to be celebrated every year.

The diocesan Health Department which was at that time under the leadership of Sr. Philipina Rubavu was established on 1st August 1998 as an independent Department within the Diocesan Organogram. Prior to that time, it was a section under Caritas Kigoma Department since 1995.

THE CELEBRATION OF THE DIOCESAN FEAST DAY AND FAREWELL FUNCTION

On 15. 08. 2012, the Diocese of Kigoma celebrated her first Diocesan Feast Day. The Dicesan Feast Day, according to the First Diocesan Synod Resolutions was meant to be celebrated annually. The Celebration went in matrix with the farewell function to their beloved Bishop which was organized following the appointment of Archbishop Protase Rugambwa to work in the Vatican as Adjunct Secretary and President of PMS. Present at the occasion was the Apostolic Nuncio to Tanzania his Grace Fracisco M. Padilla, who used that oppoturnity to announce Archbishop Paul Ruzoka as the Appostolic Administrator of Kigoma according to the Papal appointment. Realizing that he wouldn’t be available in Kigoma all the time he would be needed, Archbishop Paul Ruzoka appointed Very Reverend Fr. Sebastian Nzabhayanga to the Assistant Administror. Prior to that Appointment Rev. Fr. Nzabhayanga was the Vicar General and Moderator of Personnel of the Diocese during the Leadership of Rt. Rev. Protase Rugambwa. All the people present wished the three all the best in their new apostolate.

THEATRE AND MATERTNITY BUILDINGS INAUGURATION CEREMONY AT KABANGA HOSPITAL 25. 10. 2012

The mentioned date will always be remembered in the history of Kabanga Referral Hospital. This is because on that date Kabanga referral Hospital was graced with the coming of Honorable Dr. Seif Rashid (Mb) the Deputy Minister of Health who represented Honorable Kayanza Mizengo Peter Pinda (Mb), The Prime Minister on the official Inaugural Ceremony of newly constructed Theatre & ward buildings.
